QUEST/BRS&F is one of the main projects in the Lutheran World Federation funded by Kerk in Actie. The
project is in partnership with Dunya Group Company to support the SMEs, aiming to recover and expand the
SMEs’ services and product lines. Furthermore, to also contribute to creating unlimited job
opportunities in Duhok and Ninawa governorates.
The objective of this project is to contribute to a long-term sustainable social-economic recovery
targeting disastrous societies through providing sustainable income sources through restarting or
scaling up SME’s and providing job opportunities in diverse communities.
Overall, the concept of Quest/BRS&F consists of a tailor-made package of a loan, business development
support, and technical assistance to the company's management, as well as technical & vocational
training to its current and new employees/workers. It also integrates the approach developed by Kerk in
Actie for repairing the social fabric of communities under the curriculum called ‘’Shared Futured’’ by
bringing entrepreneurs and employees with different backgrounds together in an economic activity—from
among refugees, displaced, and hosting community with different religious, ethnic, social, economic,
gender, and abilities, as QUEST/BRS&F contributes to social cohesion at the personal, interpersonal, and
community levels.
Services:
- Tailor-made package of loans: Entrepreneurs can apply for a loan free of interest on their
request of a minimum of $5,000 and a maximum of $15,000 depending on the size of their
business need. These loans can be repaid in installments up to 36 months. A loan can only be
received when entrepreneurs also fully participate in the following two services:
- Technical, Vocational, and Educational Training (TVET): A package of training will be
discussed with business owners right after the success of their application to further
develop their businesses and make them compete in the market.
- Social Cohesion Sessions: Based on the global concept of shared futures, a set of social
cohesion sessions will be provided to business owners and their staff to enhance the social
impact at personal, interpersonal, and community levels.
